Why 2.0?

Financial Relief For Vermonters

22% of Vermont's GDP Is Spent on Health Care.

Over 20 cents on every dollar is far too much.

In FY2013, Vermonters spent $3b on health care, $214m on monthly premiums and another $850m in out of pocket deductible and co-pay costs.

In 2016, A FAMILY OF 4 in the Exchange with a gross household income over $100,000/yr will pay $16,332/yr in monthly premiums for a silver plan. Additionally they will still have an annual maximum out of pocket exposure of $13,700 before their insurance will cover 100% of all medical costs.

A SINGLE PERSON in the Exchange on a silver plan earning $40,000/yr will pay $5,808/yr in premiums and will still have another $6,850 in out of pocket exposure every year before their insurance will cover 100% of all costs.

Additionally, under Dr. Dynasaur 2.0, no longer will young people be denied insurance for things such as Obamacare’s "open enrollment period" deadline which is currently a very short window that's only open November 1 through January 31 of a calendar year. Anyone not enrolled in a plan by February 1 must wait until the start of the next calendar year to get insurance. Dr. Dynasaur has no such waiting period.

Finally, providing affordable health care helps make Vermont a more attractive place for young people to live, work and raise a family.
